Emergency Shelter Opening Before Temperature Drops Tonight
NEW BEDFORD - The emergency overflow shelter at the Sister Rose House in New Bedford will be opening tonight to shield people from the elements.
According to tonight's forecast, the expected low temperature is 23 degrees with an even harsher wind chill.
Guests can start arriving at 6 p.m. with an 8:45 p.m. cutoff time. Shelter is provided on a first come, first served basis. The shelter can accommodate up to 25 people, both men and women.
Meals, showers, and beds will be available.
Anybody trying to enter the facility with drugs or weapons will be denied entry.
The Sister Rose House is located at 71 Division Street in New Bedford.
