Eleven Year Old Boy Struck And Killed By Commuter Train
SALEM (AP) - Authorities in Massachusetts say an 11-year-old boy who was trying to cross tracks to get his bike was hit and killed by a commuter rail train.
The Essex County District Attorney's office says the boy was killed Friday night in Salem.
Authorities say the boy had been with a group of other boys at a nearby park when he tried to cross the tracks. An outbound train passed just after 8 p.m. and then an inbound train went by about a minute later.
Investigators believe the boy was not aware of the second train and was struck by it. He died of his injuries.
The victim was not immediately identified.
