The economic picture is looking brighter at the New Bedford Regional Airport.

According to a recent study by the Mass. Dept. of Transportation, the airport is now generating $32 million in local economic activity, a 23% increase over the past four years.

The report also found the airport supports 297 public and private sector jobs, with a payroll of more than $10 million.  The regional airport has added 60 news jobs over the past four years.

Airport Manager Erick D'Leon says the numbers show the New Bedford Airport is an economic engine, and a capable job-creator.

The airport has just seen the completion of $30 million worth of projects, and a four million dollar reconstruction of the taxiway is expected to begin later this year.
