East Freetown Home Brings Christmas Magic with Lights and Letters to Santa
For over a decade, the Carvalho family at 20 Chace Road in East Freetown has transformed their home into a dazzling Christmas wonderland.
Every year, Bonnie and Eric Carvalho pour their holiday spirit into an extraordinary display that lights up their neighborhood and warms the hearts of visitors near and far.
This year marks 12 years of festive dedication from Bonnie, who said her passion for decorating stems from her love of Christmas and the joy it brings to others.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday,” she said “Seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they see the display makes it all worth it.”
The magic doesn’t stop at the lights. A special mailbox for letters to Santa sits proudly on the property, inviting children to drop off their holiday wishes.
The mailbox, a thoughtful gift from a friend, has become a beloved tradition. Every letter received by December 17 is guaranteed a reply from Santa himself, and Bonnie estimates she receives around 20 letters each season.
Bonnie’s favorite part of the holidays is decorating and spending time with her family, a tradition that’s taken on new meaning since the arrival of her granddaughter. With help from her husband Eric, the pair ensures their display grows more spectacular each year.
Will the tradition continue?
Without hesitation, Bonnie said yes.
“Now that we have our first granddaughter, there’s no end in sight," she said.
Whether you’re looking for a dose of Christmas cheer or a direct line to Santa, the Carvalho family’s home is a must-visit destination this holiday season.
