A person escaped from a crashed vehicle off Rt. 140 northbound in Lakeville Tuesday afternoon before the car burst into flames after sliding into a wooded area.

The driver "self-extricated," declined medical transport, and was not badly injured, the Lakeville Fire Department said on social media. The single-vehicle crash happened around 3:30 p.m. as snow fell from the sky.

Lakeville Fire Chief Michael O'Brien said a second accident occurred 15 minutes later on the same highway. In that case, a white sedan slid off the road. That driver also sustained minor injuries, O'Brien said.

The department warned drivers to exercise caution while driving in snowy conditions.
