Dookhan’s Attorney Seeking Plea Deal

Prosecutors and a lawyer for a Massachusetts chemist charged in a far-reaching scandal at a state drug-testing lab plan to meet with a judge to discuss a possible guilty plea.

    Annie Dookhan is charged with obstruction of justice, perjury and other counts for allegedly faking test results, tampering with evidence and ignoring testing protocols.

    An investigation led to the shutdown of the state lab where Dookhan worked. More than 330 state prison inmates have been released from custody and at least 1,100 cases have been dismissed or not prosecuted because of tainted evidence or other fallout from the lab's closure.

    A plea conference is scheduled Friday in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston. Dookhan's lawyer tells The Associated Press that a possible resolution of the case will be discussed during the conference.  (Associated Press)
