A New Bedford man has been named Compliance Officer for the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal project. The appointment of Donald Gomes was announced Tuesday by the Mass. Clean Energy Center.

In a press statement, the Center says Gomes will work with the general contractor, local labor unions, and community leaders to ensure the project is meeting its goals in the hiring of women, minorities, and apprentices.

Gomes will also be working with community leaders to create pathways between local residents and union apprenticeship programs. Gomes previously worked 14 years as the compliance manager for the City of New Bedford.
