A dolphin became stranded on the shores of Dartmouth this past weekend.

Nick Leblanc tells the Standard Times he and his girlfriend were walking at Round Hill Sunday afternoon when she spotted the Atlantic White-Sided Dolphin swimming to shore in an attempt to beach itself.

Leblanc says the dolphin had some scrapes on its fin but didn't have any bite marks.

He tried to push the animal out to sea but the dolphin headed back to shore.

Leblanc then turned the animal toward open water and gave it a big push.

He said the dolphin swam off and he didn't see animal again.
