Dartmouth Police Station Funding, Select Board and School Committee Races Being Decided Today
DARTMOUTH - It's Eelection Day in Dartmouth.
The big question on the ballot is whether to approve a Proposition 2 ½ override for just over $13 million for the design and construction of a new police station on Tucker Road. Police Union representatives say it would be the first built-to-specification station for the department. The Dartmouth Police Department has been without a permanent home, operating out of temporary structures since the discovery of Legionnaires Disease in the old headquarters in 2014.
Also on the ballot, contested races between Stanley Mickelson (incumbent) and Lorri-Ann Miller for Select Board, and two seats on the School Committee up for grabs with three candidates: Christopher Garth (incumbent), Carol Karafotis (incumbent), and Kathleen Amaral.
The polls opened at 7am and close at 8pm.
