Dartmouth Cyclist Identified as Man Killed in Acushnet Crash
ACUSHNET — The cyclist killed in a crash with a large truck in Acushnet last week has been identified as 27-year-old James Leandre of Dartmouth.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said the investigation into the Dec. 22 crash that killed Leandre is ongoing.
However, according to the D.A.'s office, the incident currently appears to have been an accident, with no foul play or recklessness suspected.
Acushnet Police Chief Christopher Richmond said the department received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash between a cyclist and a large truck near 59 South Main St. just after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
First responders arrived to find Leandre gravely injured, and he was declared dead at the scene.
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Richmond.
