The Dartmouth Cultural Center on Elm Street is keeping busy during the months of July and August. Its list of attractions includes an exhibit of art by women from all over the nation, three special programs for children, a modern dance program and its well-received annual event, 2025 Wet Paint Padanaram.

Wet Paint Padanaram Gets New August Date

Speaking on Townsquare Sunday, President Pauline Santos explained the Wet Paint event is being moved from September to August 23. She said the September dates the last two years have been rained out, and she hopes for better luck on August 23.

Artists are given a canvas, lunch and a map at the start of the day. They return in the afternoon to submit their work.

"We give prizes and local artist Ron Fortier will serve as the juror for the art work," Santos said. "It's a lot of fun."

Artists can now register for the event through the Dartmouth Cultural Center website. There is a $40 registration fee.

Eleanor Roosevelt Play Brings History to Life

There will be a special presentation on July 17 at the center. Cynthia Cross has written a play about Eleanor Roosevelt, and she will perform excerpts from the play that evening. "She will dress like Eleanor and impersonate her, so that should be fun," Santos said.

National Women Artists Exhibit

The National Association of Women Artists returns to Dartmouth with all types of artwork on display, beginning July 18 and running through August 16. The exhibit is entitled "About Face."

Summer Programs Just for Kids

There are three programs for children coming up in July and August. The first is a five-week program beginning on July 16, "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle." There's a one-day workshop on July 29, "How Important Is the Honeybee." The third program is "Musical Theatre Magic," running from August 11-15, for children ages 6-12.

An Evening of Modern Dance for Adults

Finally, there will be a modern dance presentation on Saturday, August 2. Steven Vaughn will present an intimate evening of dance, featuring a small ensemble of student performers in collaboration with local musicians and a visual artist. The presentation starts at 6 p.m. and is for adults only. There is a $10 charge.
