CVS About to Close for Daily Lunch Breaks

CVS just announced that it will be making a slight change to its pharmacy hours. Many SouthCoast residents may have recently received a text message alerting them of a daily closure of the pharmacy right smack in the middle of the day.

So what exactly is the change and why? Well, beginning February 28, all CVS pharmacy locations will close from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. to allow its technicians to have a dedicated lunch uninterrupted. Apparently that hasn't been happening already. This I'm sure is especially true since most CVS locations are using their techs to also administer COVID vaccines.

Now, I'm fortunate to not rely on medications but I know there are many of you that need them. We all have busy lives and sometimes your lunch hour is the only time you can drop in to pick up your medication. What if that just so happens to also be when the techs are taking their mandatory lunch break? Many people have been depending on CVS for decades.

Playing both sides here, CVS has come out and said the reason for this it to make sure its technicians are performing at their best. Yes, this is something that will go into effect at all CVS locations across the country.

However, how does this play into CVS's competition, like Walgreens, Rite-Aid, or the biggest competitor of all, Amazon? These locations don't currently have such a "closure" in the middle of the day.

Am I being a bit dramatic over this minor change? Possibly. What are your thoughts on this?
