
Costa Rica Advances To Knockout Round At World Cup
Costa Rica is the latest side to advance to the knockout round at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Costa Ricans defeated Italy 1-0 in Group D action. The Italians and Uruguay each have three points while England has been eliminated.
France was the big winner on Friday with a 5-2 victory against Switzerland. The French shot up to the top of Group E with six points and virtually locked up a spot in the round of 16. Ecuador continued Group E play with a 2-1 win over Honduras. Ecuador and the Swiss each have three points, and Honduras has zero.
Argentina and Iran get things started on Saturday. Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina end Group F play in the night cap. Group G starts back up in the middle match with Germany facing Ghana. The United States plays its second match of Group G on Sunday against Portugal. (Metro Networks Inc.)
