Coronavirus Great Example for Securing Borders [OPINION]
Ok, so far in the United States we've shut down flights, trapped people on cruise ships, and quarantined people in their homes in an attempt to contain the coronavirus which originated in Wuhan City, China.
Airports? Check. Ports? Check. Secured the borders? Well, err, uh, why would you want to do that? Some 2,900 people cross into America illegally every day, mostly at the U.S.-Mexican border but some from Canada and others through ports on the shores.
With this open borders mentality, we really don't have a right to stop a pandemic from coming in to kill our families, if you listen to some of the voices here.
I'm surprised the left hasn't accused Trump of racism for shutting down all direct flights coming from China – well, of course, I'm kidding. The Communist online publication People's World certainly did exactly that. These are Bernie Sander's peeps, BTW.
Apparently, for some, there is no scenario where America has the right to not be invaded by whoever wishes to cross in. I'd say to those voices, question their motive.
Even if the virus is controlled or an overblown media fixation, there will be a time when this reckless open borders policy harms us. In addition, perhaps that is something for our enemies to exploit?
Let's just hope that an American-hating terrorist cell never collaborates with or steals from a biowarfare expert and brings in legions of contagious suicide volunteers carrying a terrible disease.
