A Providence man is going to prison after being found guilty of trafficking heroin in New Bedford.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn says 41 year old Edison Perez-Lara was arrested in July of 2014.

Police said Perez-Lara had 60 grams of heroin in his possession, plus another 60 grams in his van parked on Stowell Street.

The defendant was later indicted on drug trafficking charges and on Thursday entered a guilty plea in Fall River Superior Court.

He was sentenced by Judge Renee Dupuis to serve 4-7 years in state prison.
