Construction Worker Impaled In Rochester
A construction worker at a site in Rochester was impaled through his chest Saturday by a four-foot steel rebar, after falling 15 feet. In a Press Release, Fire Chief Scott Weigel says the man was stabilized at the scene, and transported by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.
Firefighters and Wareham EMS personnel responded to the Zero Waste Facility at 35 Cranberry Highway around 8:40 am. Weigel says the man suffered massive internal injuries. HIs condition is unknown. ,
Officials say they used a hydraulic tool to cut the rebar and free the construction worker. The victim was not from Rochester, according to the Fire Chief.
