If you're looking for a fun night out while also supporting local foundations and cancer patients, then allow me to introduce you to the Crack Up Cancer comedy show.

Coming soon to Fall River's Narrows Center for the Arts, the comedy benefit is sure to bring laughs in hopes of raising money for a great foundation and a local teen who has been through some pretty rough times.

The event will raise funds for Looney Legacy Foundation and Superhero Alex.

The comedy benefit was established 15 years ago in Tampa by SouthCoast native Jack Bevilacqua. This R-rated comedy show will distribute half the net profits to the Melanoma Research Foundation half to the family of Superhero Alex, a Somerset teen battling leukemia, to assist with travel.

"I wanted to bring the event back home to the SouthCoast where my parents were taken good care of," Bevilacqua said. "My mother had colorectal cancer and my father had lung cancer and everywhere they went, whether it was St. Annes or St. Lukes or Charlton Memorial, these healthcare providers took good care of my parents."

Over the years, this comedic event has brought nothing but success and provided financial help for local families.

"Ultimately, selling out the place is not as important as it is raising money to help people within the community and making an impact along the way," Bevilacqua said. "Every dollar, every dime, every penny will help these families tremendously and that's what we're all about. That's what 'Crack Up' stands for, providing financial relief when people with medical bills and transportation costs need it the most."

This comedy show (general admission tickets are $28; front-row tables of four for $200) has enjoyed a successful following elsewhere. This first SouthCoast show features three prominent comics from the area: Mike McCarthy, Christine Hurley, and "Rescue Me" star Lenny Clarke.

There will be a raffle and/or auction prior to the event for attendees to win a variety of awesome prizes.
