NEW BEDFORD - As the U.S. Coast Guard continues it's investigation into the dual sinking of two boats owned by the convicted "Codfather," Carlos Rafael, one of the vessels is headed to the scrapyard.

Coast Guard public affairs officer Ensign Nathan Mendes tells WBSM News the Dinah Jane is scheduled to be scrapped. Tucker Roy Marine Towing & Salvage, the company that raised the vessels in the days after they sank, will be responsible for the scrapping process, as the vessel is currently moored at Fish Island in New Bedford.

The other vessel that sank, the Nemesis, has been reclaimed by Carlos Seafood, Inc., and is currently docked at Leonard's Wharf.

Ensign Mendes says the investigation into what caused both vessels to sink in the early morning hours of February 5 may take weeks, and even months, to complete.
