NEW BEDFORD - The north end convenience store that sold a $4 million instant win ticket earlier this month received its own prize from lottery officials Friday afternoon.

The winning scratch ticket was purchased at Lyndon's Convenience Store, 3963 Acushnet Ave., by Laura Mendosa of West Yarmouth. Mendosa chose the one-time payment of $2.6 million. For selling the ticket, Lyndon's was awarded a $40,000 by the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Brothers and co-owners Twinkle and Manish Patel haven't yet decided what to do with the money, but are happy to see so many winning tickets pass along their counter.

"In the past three months we sold over $21,000 in winners and the next one is a $4,000,000 one," Manish said. "This is a lucky store here and there's many more to come."

The Patels have owned the store for over three years and annually sell over $1 million in lottery sales.

The store received large-scale copies of the winning "$4,000,000 Bonus Cash" instant win ticket and a banner to display.
