The first phase of a major renovation project at the Zeiterion Theater was officially unveiled Sunday afternoon.

Along with Mayor Jon Mitchell, City Councilors, and members of the theater's board of directors, there were some special guests in attendance.

The great grandchildren of one of the original architects, Frank Leary, happened to be visiting the area. Petra and Ezra Leary had just arrived to the U.S. for their first visit from New Zealand.

Petra shares her thoughts about seeing the theater.

Phase one of the project focused on renovating the exterior, such as the brick facade, three banks of wooden doors, and the original white terra cotta trim.

The $1.1 million dollar project was funded by the city with state and federal grants.
