Members of the New Bedford City Council are taking issue with parts of Mayor Jon Mitchell's proposed $263-million budget.

Council President Bruce Duarte tells WBSM News, he's concerned about expenditures not listed in the budget.

The Mayor says he's planning to submit a capitol budget to the council later this year, addressing public safety issues.  But Councilor Duarte says, till he sees that capitol budget, he's still very concerned about equipment needs for police and fire.

City Council hearings on the Mayor's budget are expected to begin during the first week of June.
