City Council Sets Budget Hearing Schedule

The New Bedford City Council has set aside five nights to review budgets of various city departments.  However one of those nights, Wednesday June 18th, will be set aside to review only one budget, the school budget.

Mayor Jon Mitchell has submitted a total city budget of $297 million.  According to a memo from the City Council Office, the hearings will begin Wednesday June 3rd, with 13 departments up for review.

Other hearings will be held on Monday, June 8th, Wednesday, June 10th and Monday, June 15th.  The session to cut the budget is scheduled for June 22nd.
