Street congestion around city schools has been a serious issue for years. The City Council discussed some ways to alleviate some of those problems during Thursday's meeting.

Councilor Jim Oliveira put forward two motions addressing the traffic flow at Pulaski School in the north end.

Although the motions were focused on one school, the idea was to promote discussion among the council.

Oliveira proposed a feasibility survey be conducted at Pulaski to determine what options are available to adding another entrance and exit.

He also proposed a police officer direct traffic during student pick ups and drop offs. That motion was changed to ask the School Department to look at hiring crossing guards or find volunteers for the job.
