Organizers of the 9th annual New Bedford Chowder Festival say the turnout for Sunday's event on Pier Three appeared to be the largest ever in Chowder Festival history.

Thousands lined up to sample both clam and seafood chowders, stuffed quahogs  and specialty soups. The event is a fund-raiser for Downtown New Bedford Inc. and it was the first visit to the Chowder Festival for Kathy Mello of Rochester.....

The M-R-L trio offered live music throughout the afternoon.

Awards were handed out for the best-testing chowders. One of the judges was Fun-107's Michael Rock.
