Child and Family Services in New Bedford have a new headquarters building in the North End.

Agency officials and City leaders cut the ribbon Friday at a new headquarters building at 30-57 Acushnet Avenue .  The building formerly housed a supermarket and billards parlor.  It recently has undergone a $2.3 million renovation.

Executive Director Ann Sampaio says the new site provides plenty of parking, easy access to highways, and room to grow.....

Sampaio says Child and Family closed its site at the Cherry and Webb building Downtown and transferred 100 direct service employees to the new building, joining 20 administrators and staff members from the Pleasant Street office.

The move frees up space at Pleasant Street to locate a children's mental health clinic there.
