(Associated Press) - Fall River is the latest city to express an interest in bringing the Pawtucket Red Sox to town.

Robert Mellion, president and chief executive of the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce, tells The Herald News the organization has started ``poking around'' to see if there's interest in bringing the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate to the city.

The team's new owners recently ended their pursuit of waterfront land in downtown Providence for a new stadium.

Since then, officials in the Massachusetts cities of Worcester and Springfield have said they are exploring the possibility of landing the team.

Fall River Mayor Sam Sutter said he is interested in the team and the city has some possible sites for a stadium, but stressed efforts are in the preliminary stages.
