"These are the times that try men's souls." Thomas Paine wrote of the Revolution in The American Crisis, but Massachusetts Republicans must never shrink from the service of our Commonwealth in the face of liberal Democrat tyranny under Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Ed Markey and Bill Keating. Now is the time for conservatives to become registered Republicans and for Republicans to answer the rhetorical call to political arms and to join their town/ward and city committees – the essential foundation of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

Be it Republican or Democrat, local town and ward committees are the most basic building block of any political party. They are the legal entity closest to and most responsive of We, the People. Our local political committees, our municipal parties, are neither coffee klatches nor social clubs but rather a vital component of the Republican Party. The Massachusetts Republican Party, the Republican National Committee, and all of our candidates at all levels – from our local Town/City Halls, Beacon Hill, Capitol Hill, and the White House – depend upon our activists laboring within and through town/ward and city committees.

We recently celebrated 245 years of American Independence, and to quote Ronald Reagan, "Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the Democrats believe every day is April 15." We Massachusetts Republicans, but especially the SouthCoast, must always remember the Great Communicator and his passionate patriotic spirit by building, rebuilding, and energizing our local committees.

Upon the Massachusetts Republican State Committee, I represent the Second Bristol and Plymouth State Senate District, which is comprised of New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Acushnet and Mattapoisett. I cannot urge more strongly for any Republican in any of these municipalities to please reach out to me to join or to form their town/ward and city committees. If you reside outside of this district then I would be happy to connect you with your MassGOP State Committee members (per Massachusetts law, there is always a State Committee Man and Woman elected at the Presidential primary to represent you in each of the 40 State Senate districts). Please contact me at either BNCordeiro@comcast.net or (508) 264-1600.

2022 will be here in the proverbial blink of an eye and there will be races that include, but are not limited to, governor, sheriff, state representative, state senator, U.S. Congress, and of course our municipal offices. Strong, vibrant, and well-organized local Republican committees are critical for successfully electing our candidates and advancing our conservative principles. Even before Election Day 2022 will be the Massachusetts Republican State Convention, and the members of our legally organized town/ward and city committees will hold the caucuses required to elect our delegates.

Do not be merely a summer soldier or sunshine patriot, but rather carry the banner proudly as we fight the good fight and march on to victory, as did our Revolutionary forefathers. As Mr. Paine also wrote, "Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value."
