Cab Driver Robbed In North End

New Bedford Police are investigating the robbery of a cab driver early Monday.  

Lt. John  Chaves tells WBSM News, a Blue Bird Taxi picked up two men outside the 7-11 store at 14-99 Acushnet Avenue around 2:30am. 

The men told the driver to head north on the Avenue, near the Acushnet line.  According to the driver, the passenger in the front seat pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. 

Lt. Chaves says the men then ran into Acushnet.  Acushnet police were contacted but failed to locate the suspects. 

The gunman was described as a black male with a light complexion, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.  The second suspect is a white male wearing shorts. 

Lt. Chaves says detectives plan to check the surveillance cameras at the 7-11 to see if there's any video that might help police identify the suspects.
