In my What's New blog today, I'm saying so long to Fall River's New Harbour Mall officially. How many of you can remember when the mall opened back in 1971 featuring an 8 screen movie complex that was the cat's meow of its day! I remember doing Christmas telethons from there. That was then.

In about a year and a half, and $50 million later, the new shopping center, that will have its stores facing the parking lot, will be called South Coast Plaza, according to the CEA Group of Cambridge, MA.  This investment group likes to include grocery stores in their other properties, like Whole Foods in Legacy Place in Dedham, Star Market in The Street in Chestnut Hill and Whole Foods in Market Street in Lynnfield. About 25 to 30 stores will be featured, along with a 10 screen movie theater.

In the meantime, Kmart,  Staples, Santander Bank, Rainbow and Dollar Tree will remain open along that stretch of William Canning Boulevard in Fall River.

South Coast Plaza should be open for business in mid 2017.
