Building Community With United Way of Greater New Bedford Grants [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
When it comes to helping others, the United Way of Greater New Bedford is certainly carrying its share of the load.
Whether it's providing healthy food to needy families, emergency housing for those arriving from Puerto Rico because of a devastating hurricane, or baby supplies for first-time mothers, the United Way is working to better the lives of people, and make their communities stronger.
Improving communities is what

Victoria Grasela, the United Way's Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement, stopped by Townsquare Sunday this week to discuss the criteria for Changemaker Grants and explain the application process. Applications are available on the United Way website and the deadline is March 11, so you still have time to apply.
Grasela said that Changemaker Grants are all about bringing together a small group of volunteers, identifying a community project that focuses on areas like health, education, financial stability, or basic needs. The project can be small in scale, but have the potential for long-term impact.
Grasela's Townsquare Sunday interview can be heard here;
Townsquare Sunday is an hour-long public affairs program heard every Sunday on 1420 WBSM. The program features non-profit organizations and individuals working to make Greater New Bedford a better place to live and work.
