BSU Mourns Loss of Student on Campus
A freshman student at Bridgewater State University found unresponsive in a residence hall by Bridgewater State University Police has died, according to a statement from BSU president Fredrick Clark, Jr.
The statement, posted on the campus website and emailed to the campus community, said officers responded to a 911 call and found the first year student from Sharon, Massachusetts unresponsive.
The student was transported to Brockton Hospital by ambulance, where they passed away.
The name of the student has not been released at the request of the parents pending notification of family members.
Cause of death has not been released.
"My deepest sympathies are extended to our student's family and friends and to all members of the campus community," Clark said. "We have been in contact with the student's family and will continue to reach out in the difficult hours and days that lay ahead."
Counseling will be available on campus to students, faculty and staff in the Wellness Center in Weygand Hall.
