Bristol Community College is moving ahead with plans to train students for jobs in the offshore wind industry.

Bristol President Laura Douglas announced last week the college had reached an agreement with an international firm, Maersk Training, to provide training here on the SouthCoast for students interested in offshore wind development off New England.

Douglas says the training will be located at a facility on New Bedford's waterfront and will likely start next year.  President Douglas joined Townsquare Sunday this week to discuss how the partnership came about, and the potential for job creation in the region.

Townsquare Sunday is an hour-long, public affairs program heard every Sunday morning at 6 on 1420 WBSM. The program highlights individuals and organizations that are working to better the quality of life on the SouthCoast.
