ABINGTON — A Boston woman who was walking along Route 18 in Abington Tuesday night was killed after she was struck by a pickup truck, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office stated in a release Wednesday.

State and Abington police are investigating the death of 35-year-old Marissa Voller after emergency services responded to the scene just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

They arrived to find a woman lying injured in the roadway. She was taken to South Shore Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation found that Voller was in the left travel lane of Route 18 when she was hit.

Visibility was low as the weather was misty, according to the D.A.'s office.

The man driving the pickup truck called 911 and stayed on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
