NEW BEDFORD — The Boston Bruins have sent a special birthday gift to Irene Miller, the lifelong New Bedford woman who turns 110 years old this Friday.

Earlier this month, WBSM posted a story about Irene and her wish for people to send her birthday cards in honor of her special day. The story went viral, and Irene has received thousands of cards throughout the month.

Irene, a lifelong Red Sox fan, also got a chance to see (and touch) the Red Sox' 2018 World Series championship trophy.

But a very special package arrived Wednesday at Active Day of New Bedford, where Irene spends her days, from another Boston sports team. Inside was an authentic Boston Bruins jersey--or sweater, as hockey players refer to them--with "Miller" on the back, and "110."

Also inside the package was a birthday card for Irene, hand-signed by the entire Bruins roster.

Perhaps Irene will wear her new Bruins sweater on Friday, when she is inviting everyone to come to Active Day of New Bedford on Welby Road to come to her birthday party, scheduled for 3 p.m.

In addition, Irene is still accepting birthday cards. Anyone who would like to send one can send it to:
