The mission of the SouthCoast Community Foundation and its president John Vasconcellos is to mobilize philanthropy by matching donors and resources with community needs for the benefit of the region.

The foundation awards grants and scholarships to recipients in more than 40 communities.  Those grants are often directed to non-profit agencies whose primary mission is to help individuals and families, support educational programs and encourage community projects.

Now in its 25th year, the Community Foundation is supporting more than 170 programs benefiting art, culture, education and humanitarianism in the SouthCoast region.

John Vasconcellos joined Townsquare Sunday this week to discuss the workings of the foundation and a new $1.1 million program to help families that have been impacted by COVID-19. The interview can be heard here:

Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program that highlights individuals and organizations working to make the SouthCoast a better place to live.
