FALL RIVER — A day after a motorcyclist is believed to have gone off a Fall River bridge into the Taunton River, a body has been located washed up on the shore.

Massachusetts State Police say they believe, but have not yet confirmed, that the body is that of the motorcycle operator who was engaged in a crash on Veterans Memorial Bridge at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The driver, believed to be a 35-year-old Fall River man operating a 2020 Kawaski Z125 Pro motorcycle, apparently went over the bridge following the crash. Early Sunday, police found the crashed bike and a shoe on a ramp to the bridge.

The body washed up on the shore about 1.5 miles down river from the area that the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team searched on Monday, according to state police. The body was found in the area of Riverview Drive.

No further updates are expected until tomorrow.
