Babies rehearse how to talk long before saying their first words. Babies begin to distinguish speech patterns and sounds as early as seven months.

Researchers at the University of Washington found talking to infants stimulates the brain areas they'll later use when they actually talking. The researchers also said it's a good idea to talk to babies as often as possible.
