With school starting up for kids all across the country, there are some things parents need to think about when buying their children backpacks.

Pediatrician Dr. Sara Lappe at Cleveland Clinic says parents should make sure the backpack has two wide straps that will help distribute the weight evenly. If you're worried about it being too heavy, the basic rule of thumb is the backpack shouldn't weigh more than 10-to-20-percent of your child's weight.
