Brockton officials say they are regularly coming across assault weapons in the city.  The Enterprise in Brockton reports  that state and Brockton police confiscated two AK-47-type weapons and a high-capacity magazine Tuesday night in a Brockton apartment.  Lt. Paul Bonanca says police come across such weapons about once a month.   Machine guns have been outlawed since 1934. Assault rifles were banned in 1994, but guns made before the ban can be legally owned. A federal ban expired in 2004 but the state law, which mirrors the federal one, remains in effect.  Brockton police have seized 41 guns so far this year, but did the newspaper said police did not have a list available of what kinds of weapons were seized.
