Electrical Fire at Attleboro Stop & Shop Sparks Quick Response
ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — Firefighters in Attleboro quickly contained an electrical fire at Stop & Shop in South Attleboro this morning.
Firefighters responded at about 7:35 a.m. today to the supermarket, located at 251 Washington Street, for a reported fire. Crews arrived to find the building had already been evacuated after store staff saw light smoke coming from a storage area.
The fire department said crews “quickly located charring and arching electrical wiring inside a freezer unit.” They cut the power to the freezer.
While the incident remains under investigation, the department said it appears the fire originated from the electrical wiring inside the freezer.

"I commend the crews on their quick actions," Attleboro Fire District Chief Mark Renker said. "The first arriving crew was on scene in three minutes and made precise decisions that prevented any spread or further damage."
No injuries were reported, and the supermarket was able to reopen. The Attleboro Department of Health responded to conduct an inspection, and firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour.
