ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — A motor vehicle crash involving an Attleboro Fire Department ambulance is under investigation.

How the Crash Happened

According to the department, the crash occurred at about 2:52 p.m. today at the intersection of County Street and Thacher Street. At the time of the crash, the ambulance was transporting a patient to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

“Rescue 2 was operating with emergency lights and sirens activated and proceeded through the intersection when it collided with another vehicle,” the department stated in a release. “An additional ambulance was dispatched to the scene to continue the patient transport to Sturdy Memorial Hospital."

Condition of the Patient and Crew

The patient did not sustain any additional injuries as a result of the crash, the department said.

The firefighters operating the ambulance were not injured, and the driver of the vehicle it collided with declined to be taken to the hospital.
