Arrests Made in Connection with Fatal Fall River Stabbing
UPDATE: Since this article was written, Nathan Silva was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and Jessica Brophy has been caught and indicted in connection to her role in the stabbing.
FALL RIVER — A 23-year-old New Bedford man has been taken into custody and charged with murder in connection to the Saturday morning homicide in Fall River, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Nathan Silva was arrested without incident at the Motel 6 in Seekonk last night and will be held in jail until his arraignment in Fall River District Court Monday morning.
A second defendant, Jessica Brophy, 27, of Fall River, was also arrested yesterday and charged with accessory to murder-after the fact. She will also be arraigned Monday morning in Fall River District Court.
Because neither defendant has been arraigned in open court, no further information on the facts of the case can be disseminated publicly at this time.
Fall River Police, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to this office, and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred in the city of Fall River Saturday.
At around 7:23 am Saturday, Fall River Police responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing in the parking lot of the Bay Village housing complex at 2000 Bay Road.
Upon arrival, first responders located the male victim in the parking lot, rendered aid, and rushed him to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River.
The victim, who has been identified as Jorge Vieira, 25, of Fall River, was then transferred to Rhode Island Hospital where he died later in the day.
