The New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center is pleased to announce the winners of Through the Lens: Our Fishing Heritage.

This juried show captures the working waterfront and our fishing heritage, as seen through the lenses of area photographers. and will be open until July 1.

In the Color category, Suzanne McDonald captured first place with Blue Hour at State Pier. Second place was Fogbound Fleet by James Mahaney. Third Place was New Bedford Pier by Jose Soler del Valle. Honorable mention was Ned's Point Sunset by Jose Soler del Valle.

In the Black and White category, Jose Soler del Valle captured first place with David Densmore Fisherman Poet and also captured second place with Woods Hole. Third place was Remembrance by Marjorie Joseph. Honorable mention was Winter Harbor by James Mahaney.

The People's Choice Award was awarded to Blue Hour at State Pier by Suzanne McDonald. Opening reception attendees voted for their favorite for the People's Choice award. This award was sponsored by Bob and Deb Bergeron of Tri-Color Digital Imaging Lab.

This exhibit features the work of Elizabeth Antonell, Richard Castenson, Dennis Catterall, Bernette Costa, Sally Erickson, Hugh Fanning, Marjorie Joseph, Nina Mach, James Mahaney, Suzanne McDonald, Joan-Marie Proulx, Christine Rosperich, Brian Santerre, Randy Shore, and Jose Soler del Valle. All pieces are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Center and its educational programs.

Organized by the Whaling City Camera Club, this show showcases the talents of local photographers. Award-winning photojournalist Peter Pereira selected the winners of the Color and Black & White categories. The Center is grateful to the Whaling City Camera Club for the support, with a special thanks to guest curator Sally Erickson and juror Peter Pereira.
