New Bedford parks will once again be the subject of targeted ground spraying conducted by the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project.

Spraying for mosquitoes will begin early Thursday morning, from 2am to sunrise, around the City's parks, including Buttonwood, Brooklawn, Fort Taber, Hazelwood, Riverside, Clasky, Ashley Park and the Poor Farm area.

Residents living nearby are advised to close thier windows Wednesday evening prior to spraying.

The Bristol County Mosquito Control Project is continually monitoring mosquito traps in the Greater New Bedford area, tracking the potential for mosquitoes carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis and West Nile Virus.

Residents can request a ground spray by calling the BCMCP at 508-823-5253 between 8am and 2pm, or email them at RequestBristolMCP@comcast.net.
