There were three things that I appreciated in the cookbook, Anne Byrn Saves The Day.

First, Byrn gives the reader "Seven Save-the-Day Strategies."(4)  I especially liked point number 5. "Reinvent leftovers. turn yesterday's roast into a stew, the remains of a grilled steak into a salad and so on. Jazz up those leftovers on day two." What cook doesn't need a reminder about preparing leftovers the next day?

Second, "A Save-the-Day Pantry" (5) is a must. If you keep a well-stocked pantry, then your trip to the grocery will be less because you will buy fresh produce to round out your meal.

Lastly, there is a list of situations in which preparing a meal on the fly could become stressful. Byrn lists the dilemma then provides a recipe with corresponding page number. Now that does take the stress out of cooking for a crowd or a few people.

So next time, you are in the library or a bookstore, why not check out Anne Byrn Saves The Day and see what recipes or tips could be helpful for you and your family in a time of need.
