Experts know that it's hard to get rid of things. If your closet, basement, or garage looks like it could be featured on TLC's "Hoarders," you may want to use this rule of letting go. An organization expert claims saying "thank you" to items helps us get rid of them.

Marie Kondo, author of the best-selling book, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up," knows that it "sounds silly, but I found it actually did make me feel better to say, "So long, sparkly tube top. Thanks for all the fun in college. Fare thee well on your next adventure!" Giving your sentimental objects a proper goodbye will make the "break-up" a little easier. I know we're a few months away, but try it during "spring cleaning!" See if it works!

And for more organization tips, tune in tomorrow morning at 8:50 for an interview with Donna Smallin! She is the author of "THE ONE-MINUTE ORGANIZER PLAIN & SIMPLE." We can't wait to find out what advice she can give us!
