Amazing Animal Rescue of Fall River Kitten With Hazardous Headwear

A joint effort from Fall River Animal Control and the Animal Rescue League of Boston has saved the life of a kitten wearing seriously hazardous headwear.

Wearing a lampshade may mean you're the life of the party, but a kitten with a glass light fixture stuck on her head is not anyone's idea of a good time -- which is why when this 6-month-old community kitten in Fall River turned up with a glass bowl on her noggin, residents called for help.

The cat has been living around the 200 block of Danforth Street with her two siblings and being fed by a nearby resident. When that same resident noticed a glass bowl jammed over the kitten's head, they got animal control involved right away.

According to a post from the Animal Rescue League of Boston, the kitten was spotted by its crews wandering the roadways and after some time was able to be captured using a dose trap.

Unfortunately with the glass jar over her head, the kitten could not smell, so luring her with food was not possible. It was possible to get her siblings to follow the food, though, and she came along simply out of curiosity.

The ARL agent on the scene was able to get the jar off the cat's head immediately. They then dubbed her "Buzz Lightyear" and transported her back to the Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center for further care.

The shelter says Buzz is in good health and has been issued vaccines and spay surgery. Being so young and having not lived with humans, however, Buzz will stay in the Animal Rescue League's care for a while before being available for adoption.

The ARL also plans to return to the Danforth Street vicinity, where an entire cat colony was discovered. They hope to trap more cats to provide medical treatment, spay/neuter surgery and assess their behavior to potentially place other cats into loving homes.
