Mark Alliegro has announced his candidacy for the 9th Congressional District in Massachusetts.

The Republican addressed a variety of issues during an appearance on "The Taylor Cormier Show" Friday, including the ongoing fight between fishermen and NOAA. Alleigro says charging fishermen for NOAA's own at-sea monitors is unjust. "You're gonna have to think of other ways to do it, Washington D.C. Because you should not be able to force a sea captain, a fisherman, to take somebody on his boat who he does not want," says Alliegro.

Alliegro says the federal government either needs to fund the monitors themselves or come up with another method of making sure fishermen adhere to NOAA's regulations. He adds Congress needs to petition the White House to end the program.

Congressman William Keating currently holds the 9th District seat.
