Easter Sunrise Service at Fort Phoenix has been a shared experience for Christians for at least 80 years. Gather in the night as one body sharing one faith, only seeing our diversity as the light dawns. Hundreds of people come out every year from dozens of churches, rain or shine, warm or very cold doesn’t deter the faithful!

Our speaker this year, Rev. Douglas Cederberg of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, stated, “The gathering of people on Easter morning is not just a civic, historical observance of something that happened long ago. It is also a time for each individual to experience in a new way the joy that is expressed in Mary Magdalene's words, "I have seen the Lord!"

The gates at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven will open by 5 a.m. with the service beginning at 5:55 a.m. A freewill offering will be taken for the Women’s Center for the care and assistance for those who have experienced domestic abuse.
