Airlines are looking to make more money, and as a result are offering lots of extras.

Passengers of certain airlines are now able to pay up for renting an iPad pre-loaded with movies, hot first class meals in coach, and paying to have an empty seat next to them. Others offer to deliver baggage to a passenger's home or office, allowing the passenger to skip the wait at the baggage carousel. Additionally, airlines will be using personal data to customize new offers for each flier, much in the way a website will make recommendations on what you should purchase.

Experts say without paying all the additional fees for baggage or perks, fares would be 15-percent higher.
